How to Measure Your Kitchen

What You’ll Need

Tape measure (in inches)

Pencil or pen

Grid or blank paper

Straight edge or ruler


Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Sketch Your Layout
Draw the basic shape of your kitchen: L-shaped, U-shaped, galley, etc.

2. Measure Each Wall
Measure from corner to corner. Record the total length of each wall.

3. Add Windows and Doors
Mark their placement. Measure the width and height of each opening, plus the distance from the nearest corner.

4. Add Appliances and Fixtures
Label major features: fridge, stove, sink, dishwasher.
Be sure to mark the center point of the sink and range.

5. Note Your Ceiling Height
Include ceiling height and any soffits, beams, or bulkheads.
